OUR STORY

Our Goals

In today's world, many girls lack opportunities to learn about STEM or are not interested in learning about subjects in STEM. ​GIFT strives to promote the growth and development of girls in the field of STEM, specifically in computer science. We are a group of teenagers that hope to reach out to girls of all ages. Not only that, but we want to help underprivileged youth gain access to better opportunities and help further their abilities. GIFT hosts events and a multitude of other programs to teach and inspire girls to contribute to technological advances in programming. 

OUR TEAM: 

Hannah Zhou - Founder and President
Hannah Zhou is a junior at PALY. She's a part of FRC Team 8 and a co-captain of her school's Science Olympiad team. Hannah attended AI4ALL where she conducted a research project in computational biology which is a new field she's currently exploring. She loves all aspects of STEM, but particularly enjoys CS and would love to share this passion with other girls! 
Tara Kapoor - Co-Vice President
Tara Kapoor is a sophomore at Palo Alto High School who enjoys computer programming and robotics. She is currently a member of the all-girls FRC team Space Cookies, where she works on writing vision code using Python. 
Emily Wang - Co-Vice President
Emily Wang is a sophomore at Palo Alto High School who enjoys coding small projects and also participates in coding competitions. In addition to her interest in computer science, she also enjoys reading, drawing, and being around animals, especially corgis.
